Whether you agree with it or not most people accept that human lives appear to be more fulfilling for people when they are connected to and have the ability to create meaning and purpose for themselves. We all want to find a way to understand the context of our lives. Why we are here now on planet earth? Why are we born at this time? What if anything is our purpose? What does life ask of us? As we get older we become interested in what are we leaving behind. Is there anything in particular that we wish to leave behind to reflect our particular life?
These are highly personal questions.
But within the context of being a family raising children we need to be aware of two things that might be important. First, children seem to ask these kinds of questions. Children are smart, connected and they look around with curious eyes at the great mystery into which they have been born and pretty soon start asking questions. We can have two responses to this. To try to resist the questions or to embrace them.
